First Reconciliation (Confession) and Holy Eucharist (Communion)
A young person must be at least seven years old at the time of reception of First Reconciliation
(Confession) and First Eucharist (Communion) and must have received proper religious and spiritual
formation. Children who will receive their First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in St. Christopher
Parish will receive proper formation in St. Christopher School or in the parish CCD program.
All children who have fulfilled the formation requirements will attend a session to prepare for First
Reconciliation and First Eucharist with their parents or a guardian. Both sacraments are usually
celebrated in the spring.
Contact Deacon Jerry Martinez, Director of Religious Education, at 504-559-4495 or
firstname.lastname@example.org for information and details about the CCD program to prepare
children for the reception of these sacraments.
The Sarament of the Holy Eucharist
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all
ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are
oriented toward it. In the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church,
namely Christ himself, our Pasch. The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that
communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being.
It is the culmination of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and the worship men offer to
Christ, and through him, to the Father in the Holy Spirit.
Your Catholic Family in St. Christopher the Martyr Parish urges you to join us on Sunday and other days
of the week for the Celebration of the Eucharist and to receive Jesus, fully present in the appearance of
bread and wine.
